“The more successful I become, the more I need a man.” – Beyonce

When I read this quote, I cannot tell you how much I resonated with it. It was extremely deep and powerful for me. I also read several comments and some views that stated they didn’t like what Beyonce had said. Considering her independent woman image, they wondered how she could say something so regressive?

I personally feel they missed the point of what she said. She is an independent woman on every level, but she also has emotional and mental needs and desires.

Every Human Being Needs Love

I believe her words are trying to convey that no matter how successful you become and where you are in life, every human wants to be loved and cared for.

They want to feel loved and respected. They want to feel special.

The Desire to Be With a Real Man, Not a Boy…

Beyonce is clearly a woman who knows what she wants. It is demonstrated through the precision and way she has conducted herself and her career.

To be an independent, self-respecting, and classy woman, she will want to be with a real man. Why? Because she is a real woman. She wants a man who can hold his own ground and be man enough to be vulnerable, emotional, and strong all at the same time.

Being Honest to Yourself 

This is also about being honest to yourself. How many times have you heard a woman say she didn’t need a man? Her career is rock solid. She is financially secure. Yet something is missing. She doesn’t feel entirely happy.

I am not saying that she must derive her source of happiness from a man, but to pretend to be strong and say you don’t want a beautiful relationship is not exactly the right thing either.

You can derive happiness from yourself and also embrace your desire to have a committed, loving relationship.
